I'll start this off! Here's my current lineup:
- Schecter Demon 7, packed with half working Fishman Fluence Moderns due to a shitty installation and solder job by yours truly rocking a nice bridge pickup and a $140 paperweight for a bridge pickup. I play this one in Drop F# with a custom Stringjoy set, 10-74. Also, my first 7 string!
- Jackson Dinky JS22Q-7 DKA? I don't know, something like that. Bought it used listed as the wrong guitar for only like $200 on Reverb. This came packed with Seymour Duncan Pegasus/Sentient. Couldn't beat that deal, the frets are sharp as hell but she sounds nice unless I hit the tone knob while playing and it cuts out for a split second. Love her! Also in Drop F#, same custom Stringjoy as the Demon.
- Cort KX507 SDG 7. That's it. She's a fucking beast. My only multiscale 7, super thin neck, comes with Fishman Fluence Moderns. Might be my favorite guitar I've played, Cort is extremely underrated. Originally bought this model for a decent refurbished deal on Reverb. That guitar arrived with some dead Fishmans. I ended up with a brand-new replacement for no additional charge. I let this one sit in Drop G#, since I already have two 7s in Drop F#. Looks good, sounds good, feels good. I think there's a set of 10-59s on this, which are begging to be replaced. Think I'd swap out that low G# for a 62 next time.
- Legator G8FP - Black. I wanted an 8 string, what could I say. And it's headless. I love every second of playing this. The stock Legator pickups in it aren't too bad, nothing a little EQ can't get around. Fishman Moderns are an easy install for this, at least so they say. I'm not paying for another set right now, lol. This guitar's super fun to play, the multiscale feels very nice. I usually have this set up in EAEADGBE, since that's super fun. Sometimes normal drop E. But, I do like playing some drop A riffs on it, so it usually stays here. I have a set of 9-80 from Stringjoy on this right now. I need to swap out the strings soon... but the little headless tuners piss me off sometimes so I've been putting that off. I love the guitar just sitting there, and I hear a tuner pop out and hit the floor.
Pick wise, I've been using Jason Richardson's Signature Dunlop Jazz III picks. Link here. They're smooth as butter, lighter than other picks I've used, great for accuracy. The embossed logo actually makes for the best grip on any pick I've touched. I personally hate max grips and whatnot.
I sold my shitty little cheap physical amps to go digital a few years ago. I frequent:
- Neural DSP Archetype: Nolly X
- Mixwave Mike Stringer
- Neural DSP Arcehtype: Gojira X
- Helix Native
I have Archetype Petrucci X too, but it's not really my thing. Looking to swap it out with Fortin Nameless Suite in the future. Just gotta sell my Petrucci or trade to a willing participant. I plug into a MOTU M2 audio interface. I do also have a fun little toy, the Sonicake Pocket Master. With an IR, you can get some decent portable sound out of it. Runs on a rechargeable battery and can kind of act as an audio interface on its own. Not bad for $60. There's NAM capabilities in it, but in my experience it's not the best. It makes most of my captures come out super flat. Probably a DSP issue. Oh yeah, that too! I use NAM a little bit here and there. You should come share your captures! I've captured most of my go-to plugin tones so I can go portable with them. I've posted my captures in the NAM Megathread. That's about all! I have some drum libraries and whatnot just to play around. I keep telling myself that one day I'll record a demo.
Excited to get some other people posting their setups in here!
